Submission on the Urban Development Bill

14 February 2020

This submission focuses on the interface between the Bill, the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) and the emissions reduction plans to be produced under the Climate Change Response Act.

It proposes that the links must be strengthened to ensure urban development is not carried out in a way that breaches fundamental environmental bottom lines or compromises our ability to meet our obligations under the Paris Agreement 2015.
