Simon Upton reappointed as Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment

The Governor-General, acting on the advice of Parliament, has reappointed the Rt Hon Simon Upton as Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment.

The Commissioner’s second term of five years will commence on 9 October 2022.

Mr Upton says “the current suite of reforms on resource management and local government represent a crucial time for New Zealand’s environmental management system.

“I’m looking forward to providing independent advice on these reforms together with commencing some new investigations.”

Mr Upton joins the previous three Commissioners in serving a second term.
