Submission on the proposed separation of South Island eel stocks

9 February 2016

In 2013 the Commissioner released a report on longfin eels, in which she found the population to be in decline. In 2014 she released an update report highlighting the Government's response to her findings and recommendations.

In this letter to the Minster for Primary Industries, the Commissioner outlines her support for a recent proposal to separate South Island eel stocks, which would allow for changes to the total allowable catch limit for longfin eels in the South Island.
